During a recent funeral service that we had the privilege to live stream at St Peter’s Church, our team worked carefully to ensure that the historic setting was respected while still providing a high-quality broadcast for those unable to attend. By positioning our cameras in the upper section of the church, we were able to capture clear and balanced views of the altar, lectern and congregation without disrupting the solemnity of the service. Wireless microphones were discreetly placed so that the minister’s words and the family tributes could be heard perfectly.
The result was a seamless and dignified live stream that allowed friends and relatives watching from across the UK and overseas to feel present within this historic church.
St Peter’s Church in Middleton is one of the most historically significant parish churches in the region, standing proudly in the heart of the town close to the River Irk. The present building largely dates from the 15th century, though the site itself has been associated with Christian worship since medieval times, making it one of the oldest surviving ecclesiastical landmarks in the area.
Architecturally, St Peter’s is a fine example of late medieval English parish church design. Inside, the church reveals a beautiful mixture of architectural periods. Stone arches, stained glass windows and historic memorials reflect the layers of history that have shaped the building over the centuries.
Over the centuries St Peter’s has witnessed countless moments in the life of the community including baptisms to mark new beginnings, weddings celebrating unions, and funerals where families gather to remember loved ones.
